JS Art Educator

Prior to becoming a Certified Art Teacher for the City and State of New York, I obtained my BFA / Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and earned my MAT / Master of Arts degree in Teaching from School of Visual Arts. I worked as Senior Graphic Designer /Art Director for Epigraph Studios Inc., a firm that specialized in environmental graphics. I also worked as Project Manager for Graphic Visions Group Inc., a firm that specializes in prototypes and packaging design in New York City.

I possess years of experience in the Art Industry field.

Once a week, for 13 years, I volunteered at Visions at Selis Manor in New York City. While there, I facilitated the coupon club program for blind and visually impaired adults.

I also conducted jewelry workshops, teaching seniors and teens concepts and skills how to create beautiful handcrafted jewelry. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every day of the experience.

Volunteering, at Visions at Selis Manor, is exactly what sparked my interest to pursue a career as an Art Teacher.

I plan to integrate other subjects with art and will develop creative well- planned lesson plans. If I teach middle school or high school students I will have reputable professional colleagues of mine from various fields of art visit the class. They will have the opportunity to highlight their careers and projects they worked on and are currently working on for insight and inspiration.

Professional Colleagues of mine include the art field of graphic design, illustration, toy design, comic book design, animation and more. Please feel free to check out their incredible work below. I am very proud of them they have been an inspiration to me from day one. Thank you! “I am to achieve, I believe” JS ~~~
